Infrastructure

Infrastructure projects will be a catalyst of development by promoting growth of Mumbai into the P.A.R.K. Region. This will provide a welcome break from the northern expansion into the far suburbs that Mumbai has experienced over the past few years. Contributing development drivers that will make the region a key lifestyle, business and wealth generator for investors and customers alike.

Water Expressway
The Samira Mumbai International Boat Show has resulted in an increased interest and growth in the number of yachts and boats along the coastline. As a result of this development, the government and many private companies have accelerated projects for inland water transport and marine facilities like marinas and jetties. This development has discovered and opened a hidden highway on water which efficiently connects Mumbai to Alibag.

Trans Harbour Sea Link
The Mumbai Trans-harbour link is proposed to be developed as an Expressway link with a 6 lane dual carriageway. This link will tranform three hour drive between Alibag and South Mumbai to a zipping hour.

Rewas Aware Port
The proposed port of Rewas Aware is planned 10 kms. south of the Jawaharlal Nehru Port which is located in the P.A.R.K. region. This port will serve as an alternate deep draft port to existing Mumbai Port Trust (MPT) and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) facilities.

Railway
The Konkan railway network currently connects Mumbai to Pen. A double track Metro rail has been proposed along the Trans-harbour link, to connect both sides of the bay.

Virar Alibag Link
The MMRDA has chalked out plans for a 100 km 8-lane corridor with a Metro rail link in the centre, from Virar to Alibag, enabling travellers to cover this distance in one hour than instead of the current four hours. The corridor will also have a lane dedicated to the Bus Rapid Transport System (BRTS) and two service lanes, taking the total number of road lanes to ten.

International Airport
The new International airport, proposed at Kopra-Panvel will be built through public-private partnership. Once operational, this Greenfield airport will offer state-of-the-art, world class facilities to passengers, cargo, aircrafts and airlines.

The ever-increasing rail and road congestion coupled with space limitation begs expansion across the Arabian Sea. Owing to its vast expanse, the development initiatives proposed in the P.A.R.K. region will not only give rise to additional movement between the island and mainland but also help accommodate more people. At the same time, it will accentuate the need for greater economic integration with Mumbai.
